DNETCOM(final review)

The finals is near and we were able to configure the OpenNMS. It was for both Windows and Linux. We used Linux to configure because the full functions of the application is only at the System of Linux. We used Linux Ubuntu as our field. Creating a sudo user and applying the codes to install and update, get from the network took a lot of Trial and Errors. We were able to finish it in 2 weeks configuring it. We also created a tutorial of how to install OpenNMS via virtualbox. Search it on youtube if you are willing to install it.

DNETCOM(reveiw6)

Now that we know that there are other applications that has the function of capturing what the device is doing through network, our professor has given us a project. The project was about trying to install the application of different IPCatcher that the professor gave to individual groups. The due date was until the final week. But the problem with our application that the teacher gave us which is Cimon only works on Linux. We had a hard time configuring the application installation. It took us nights to try this until we went to a conclution, that it is impossible for us beginners to install the Cimon because there is less sources and are not clear. So we asked our professor for a different app and he gave us the OpenNMS.

DNETCOM(reveiw5)

The half weeks of the term has finished and now we learned about the Wireshark. Wireshark is an application that is free. The functions of this app is that when the user starts it, it catches all of the IP and other stuff that happens when you access the network. Interesting in a way that you can see what is happening to your network. But the hard thing about this is that it is catching all of the IP's so they are many. The APC site that we captured was easy finding its IP and try to connect by its port IP. But the hard part was that when you try to catch the IP when you are creating a new account.

DNETCOM(reveiw4)

By this time we were able to understand the Ports, IP configuration and the IP connection of the PC to the router. This weeks we learned about how the communication over the network works and  how to configure a server so that it can access the site.
The exercises that were given were challenging. Not to mention about the difficulty of making a server and pin pointing it, but also making multiple devices connected to it. It took us time to figure the differences with the IP connection because some PC reeives it while the other PC's does not.

DNETCOM(review3)

Week of the days that the subject are becoming harder and harder. We used Cisco Pocket Tracer again to create a connection between a PC, switch server and a router. Knowing that the router and the server has its own individual password to access it. It took time for me to go to that point because I was not able to connect the IP of the router to the PC and the PC to the server. We also learned about the different types of ports for each sources. I was able to catch up to the lesson by looking at what my team mates were doing. I think I should at least review this port numbers because its giving me a hard time remembering it.

DNETCOM(review2)

This week we learned about the Hub, Switch, Router and how to connect them and make them work using the Pocket tracer. We configured the router and IP so that the PC would be able to access to the server. Even the hard thing that gave me some trouble was to connect the PC to the Router giving it a specific data and try sending a letter. Our professor gave us some group examples giving us a specific amount of PC, Router, and Switch and giving more specification of IP address and password. We also learned how to make a website in the pocket tracer, and making the whole Device connected to the source of internet access it. This gave me the idea, at least of how the connecting is coming from our Router into our PC.
I am looking forward to the next coming topic of what e are going to learn about.

1st week(DNETCOM)

First day of class was about how DNETCOM is important in our course BSCS-SS. To tell the truth, I don't even think about why we do each and every subjects. Because, I thought it was just another subject for a programmer to pass just to know about the subject. But I get to notice in just the 2 meetings that this subject is the base for my daily life. It is there that I didn't even think of it that much. From the fault tolerance up to the QoS, security and other different kind of topology, my mind was half blown away by the difficulty of this subject and half accepting the knowledge of what i am learning. For there are some things that I personally know about the networking but don't know about how it was made and how it works as a data. This made me give the interest of researching about this subject and how it works.
I am now interested about how the network source is giving the devices a specific amount of data and speed so that when I am at my house, i can fix the problem or improve my internet whenever I need to.
